On August 28, 2017, Y debuted as a member of Golden Child with the release of their first mini album Gol-Cha!. On March 24, 2022, Y was announced as one of the actors who would be playing Jung Haram in the musical Midnight Sun. His first performance was on May 3 with the last on June 26.
On November 17, 2025, it was announced that Choi Sung Yun had signed an exclusive contract with OAK Company. Additionally, he is preparing for a solo release. On December 5, he announced his first single album "Aurora", set for release on December 13.
