On December 20, 2017, Boun debuted in the boy group TARGET with their Japanese single "Atsui Omoi". In September 2021, it was suspected by fans that Boun had left TARGET, though no official statement was ever released. On January 27, 2022, Boun released his first digital single, "Luxury".
On April 18, Boun announced that he would be making his solo debut on April 22, with his self-produced debut digital single (mislabeled as album), "One Self". On May 7, 2025, Roots Entertainment announced that Boun signed an artist contract with them. In February 2026, Boun announced his then-upcoming single, scheduled for February 17,.
It was later revealed to be titled "Word = Love".
