On June 29, 2018, Yuju released her first solo digital single "Love Rain", which featured Suran. On May 18, Source Music announced that all members of GFRIEND, including Yuju, have decided to not renew their contracts with the agency.
They went into an indefinite hiatus on May 22 after the end of their exclusive six-year contract. On September 1, it was announced that Yuju has signed an exclusive contract with KONNECT Entertainment as a solo artist. On January 2, it was announced that Yuju would make her solo debut with her first mini album [Rec.
] on January 18. On April 27, Yuju announced her solo fanclub name would now be known as "LUVU". Later that same day, MZMC revealed that Yuju is a member of their publishing team as a lyricist.
On February 14, it was announced that Yuju would release her second mini album O on March 7. On September 8, it was announced that Yuju will be releasing a digital single, "Dalala", on September 20. On May 21, 2024, news outlet StarNews reported that all artists under KONNECT Entertainment, including Yuju, had left the agency following Kang Daniel's lawsuit against the agency's largest shareholder.
On March 12, 2025, At Area announced they have welcomed Yuju to their roster of talents. On July 28, Yuju released a teaser for her third mini album In Bloom, set for release on August 12.
