She debuted as a member of FIESTAR on August 31, 2012 with the single album "Vista". In September 2015, she became a contestant on the competition show Unpretty Rapstar 2, where she garnered attention for her song "Crazy Dog". She ended the show as a semi-finalist.
On May 15, 2018, it was announced that following the expiration of the members' contracts on April 30, FIESTAR would officially disband after six years of activities. On July 2, 2019, JG Star Entertainment announced that Yezi had signed on with the agency. Her first single under the agency, "My Gravity", was released on January 30, 2020.
The single marked her first release after FIESTAR disbanded, and also her first under JG Star. On January 30, 2023, it was revealed that Yezi had left JG Star Entertainment following contract expiration and decided not to renew. On August 31, 2024, FIESTAR reunited to celebrate their twelfth anniversary with Cao Lu having funded their comeback and subsequent activities.
On April 1, 2025, Cao Lu shared that FIESTAR, as a group, had signed an exclusive contract with Bomnal Entertainment aiming to promote in both South Korea and mainland China. On August 28, the members of FIESTAR revealed that they have terminated their contract with Bomnal Entertainment on July 31.
