She debuted as a member of f(x) on September 5, 2009 with the group's first digital single "La Cha Ta". On September 4, Victoria announced her departure from SM Entertainment through a Weibo post. In 2020, it was revealed that she, alongside Tao, Luhan, Show Luo and Mao Buyi, would be the mentors for Produce Camp 2020, which premiered on April 24.
On May 13, it was announced that her first studio album, Victoria, would be released on May 19. On April 9, 2021, SM Entertainment announced that Victoria's contract with them had ended.
