On December 22, 2015, she was introduced as one of the contestants competing on the Mnet survival show Produce 101. She was a trainee under LOUDers Entertainment. The show premiered on January 22, 2016.
On February 12, 2016, she performed "La Cha Ta" by f(x) in the fourth episode with Kim Da Ni, Lee Jin Hee, Kim Min Jung, & Park Se Hee. She was eliminated on February 19 in the fifth episode with her final rank being 67th. After Produce 101, she was a contestant on the SBS survival show ' that premiered on November 20.
She reached the third round, but none of her performances on the show aired. She was only shown in the background with other contestants. On January 8, 2017, her elimination at the end of the third round aired, and she finished in the top 41.
On March 3, she was introduced as the contestant who would be Kei's duet partner in the 43rd episode of the MBC television show Duet Song Festival. They performed "I" by Taeyeon during the first round. On March 17, they performed "If You're Gonna Be Like This" by in the 44th episode during the second round.
They finished in sixth place with a total score of 828 out of 1000 after the two rounds. On November 9, 2019, it was announced that she won a bronze award for her song "My Father" in the final round of the 30th Yoo Jae Ha Music Contest. On September 21, 2020, she made her solo debut with the digital single "My Ocean" as an independent artist under the stage name Sesang.
She would then release her second digital single "When Did It Begin" on December 14 using her real name. On June 23, 2022, it was revealed that she signed an exclusive contract with rrr Entertainment. Shortly after joining the company, it was announced that she would be releasing her third digital single on July 16, which was then revealed to be "XNFP" featuring June.
On July 24, 2023, she released her fourth digital single "Freaky U". On October 24, she released her fifth digital single "Youuuuu". On March 18, 2024, she was revealed as one of the 50 contestants competing on the JTBC survival show Girls On Fire.
On April 16, Girls On Fire premiered, and then she released her sixth digital single "Shy Donkey Rabbit" on April 20. During the first three rounds of Girls On Fire, she performed "Soledad y el Mar" by & Los Macorinos in the second episode, "It Hurts (Slow)" by 2NE1 in the fourth episode with Kim Damyoung & Ji Yooeun, and "Gods" by & NewJeans in the fifth episode with Kang Yunjeong. During the first round of the playoffs, she performed "LMM" by Hwa Sa in the eighth episode with Kang Yunjeong, Kim Yebin, & Lee Arumsoul.
For the second round, she performed "Obliviate" by IU and "Something" by TVXQ! in the ninth episode with Kang Yunjeong, Lee Arumsoul, Park Seojeong, & Choi Aim. During the first round of the finals, she performed "Trend" produced by Sunwoojunga in the 10th episode with Cho Yein, Jung Yuri, Khan Amina, & Park Seojeong.
She also performed "Done! " produced by Gaeko with Lee Sooyoung, Yang Irae, Kim Kyuri, & Kang Yunjeong. During the second round of the finals, she performed "Standing Next to You" by Jung Kook and "Rest" by Doyoung in the 11th episode with Lee Sooyoung, Lee Nayoung, Yang Irae, & Cho Yein.
On June 25, it was announced that she finished in second place and became a member of the winning group of the show with Lee Nayoung, Lee Sooyoung, Kang Yunjeong, & Yang Irae. However, on December 23, it was announced that the debut of the group had been cancelled due to circumstances with the agency they were supposed to join after the show. On July 3, 2025, she released her seventh digital single "Stop".
She released the single independently which indicated that she left rrr Entertainment sometime before the single's release. She also changed her name from søye to soye on streaming services with the release of this single. On September 5, she released her eighth digital single "Baila, Baila".
On November 8, she released her ninth digital single "Mariposa". ...
