On February 10, 2007, Sunye participated in Wonder Girls' debut show case. She then officially debuted with the group on February 13 with the release of their first mini album The Wonder Begins. On January 26, 2017, JYP announced that Wonder Girls would be disbanding after Sunmi and Yeeun had decided not to renew their contracts with the agency.
The group then released their final single "Draw Me" on February 10 which coincided with their 10th anniversary as a group and disbanded on the same day. On December 10, 2021, the first episode of Mama The Idol aired, where she was revealed as the third participant. She then debuted with the group Mamadol on January 28, 2022 with the release of their single "Mama The Idol", which included the song called "WooAh Hip".
Unfortunately, the group then disbanded on February 4 following the airing of the final episode. On February 17, 2022, it was announced that Sunye had signed with BlockBerryCreative, which is a subsidiary of her previous agency Polaris Entertainment. On February 25, it was announced that Sunye would release a remake of Ben's song "Love, ing" on March 4, as part of the '방구석 프로젝트' project.
On July 12, BlockBerryCreative released a trailer photo for Sunye's first mini album, Genuine, to be released on July 26. On June 25, 2023, Sunye announced that she would be releasing her new single "That's Me" on June 29 as an OST for the VR film Girl, Lamp, Radio. On June 29, it was reported that Sunye has left BlockBerryCreative after the expiration of her exclusive contract, and she plans to continue activities without an agency for the time being.
