In early 2015, she was a member of a pre-debut girl group with Youra, Eugene and Minjae. However, plans presumably fell through and their debut was cancelled. On December 31, 2015, she appeared on Mnet's show ' as Immortal Trainee S.
During her appearance on the show, she revealed that she had been a trainee for 12 years since elementary school and had to end her long trainee life due to problems with her former agency. Following her appearance on the show, she received many offers to debut as a singer. While she "initially hesitated due to her previous training experiences", she decided to take another chance after receiving a call from composer Lee Seung-han and signed with TSM Entertainment.
On September 27, 2016, she made her debut as a trot soloist with the digital single "Please Arrest My Oppa". In 2017, she auditioned for KBS 2TV's idol rebooting survival show The Unit and was picked after receiving all boots. She was later eliminated in episode 10 ranking 35th.
