In 2010, Miyeon became a YG Entertainment trainee. She was supposed to debut as a member of BLACKPINK's final lineup, however, suddenly left the company in 2015. She said that she left the company because her debut was always postponed, and she gave up waiting.
In early 2017, she joined Cube and later started training with (G)I-Idle. On April 8, 2018, Miyeon was revealed as the second member of (G)I-DLE (now known as i-dle). The group officially debuted on May 2 with their first mini album I Am.
On March 1, Miyeon appeared on the show King of Mask Singer. As the masked singer 'Boiled Egg', she sang "Good Bye Sadness, Hello Happiness", by Yoon Mi Rae. It was her very first solo activity, and though she was nervous, she was able to showcase her mature voice.
In September 2020, it was announced that Miyeon would make her acting debut in the web drama Replay, where she was cast as the lead alongside SF9's Hwi Young. The series is set to start airing in January 2021. In February 2021, she joined M Countdown's MC lineup.
Her first broadcast as an MC was on February 18. On April 6, Newsen reported that Miyeon will be making her solo debut later in the month. Hours later, Cube confirmed the report.
Two days later, it was announced that Miyeon will be making her solo debut with her first mini album, My, on April 27, 2022. "Drive", the album's title track, won first place on The Show on May 3rd, awarding Miyeon her first solo music show win. On October 15, 2025, it was reported that Miyeon will be making her comeback in November.
On October 20, Miyeon announced her second mini album My, Lover, scheduled for November 3. On October 23, 2025, it was announced that Miyeon will pre-release "Reno" off of hers second mini album, on October 28.
