Following Sunny Hill's change of labels to Nega Network in 2010, the agency announced that Kota would be joining the group as a new member. Prior to her official debut, she was featured in Narsha's "Mamma Mia" as a member of Sunny Hill along with her members. She officially debuted as a member of the group on June 9, 2011 with the mini album Midnight Circus.
