Sometime in early 2017, D-Maker Entertainment formed the female duo Limesoda with members Hyerim and Seungji. They made their official debut on July 12, 2017 with their first digital single, "Z Z Z". In 2018, while still a member of Limesoda, Hyerim joined the project girl group AQUA.
Formed by gaming company Actoz Soft, they were described as Korea's first Esports girl group who would promote both as gamers and idols. They debuted on November 17, 2018 with the digital single "Log In". However, the group disbanded after only one release as their managing agency KRAZY Entertainment closed down.
Hyerim eventually returned to her activities with Limesoda. Hyerim went on to release two more singles with Limesoda before eventually announcing her departure in March 2020, due to differing thoughts and concerns. On July 7, 2021, Hyerim was confirmed as a contestant on Mnet's newest reality show, Girls Planet 999, along with the other participating trainees, through the prologue trailer.
Her official profile was released on July 17. The show began airing on August 6. She was almost eliminated in the first round of eliminations but was saved by the planet pass, which was given by the planet masters.
Ultimately she was eliminated in the eighth episode, which aired on September 24, during the second round of eliminations with her final rank being K15. On December 24, 2021, it was revealed that Hyerim had signed with Doubling Music to prepare for her solo debut in 2022. On March 25, 2022, she announced that she would make her solo debut with the mini album Your World on April 4.
