On April 25, 2022, The Waves announced that DAIN would be debuting with the digital single "Peony" the next day. On May 24, it was announced that DAIN would be making her first comeback with the digital single "Busy", scheduled for release on June 1. On November 22, previously unreleased concept photos of DAIN were posted, later revealed to be for her third digital single "Hello" which was released on December 27.
