In April 2017, Soyoung became a contestant on the drama show ' under the stage name Serin. She was eliminated in the first public audition. On May 18, 2017, she was announced as the newest member of Stellar.
She officially debuted with the group on June 27 with the mini album Stellar Into the World. On February 25, 2018, the members of Stellar announced the group's disbandment after 7 years during a fanmeeting. On July 7, 2019, Soyoung announced that she had signed with WK ENM and would be making her debut as a solo artist.
Her first digital single, "Breath", was released on August 20. On February 2, 2023, she signed an exclusive contract with Hanahreum Company to start a new career as an actress.
