In the spring of 2020, Yaning appeared as an individual contestant on the Chinese reality survival show, Youth With You 2. She was eventually eliminated in Episode 16 with her final rank in 35th place. On July 7, 2021, Yaning was confirmed as a upcoming contestant on Mnet's upcoming South Korean reality show, Girls Planet 999, along with the other participating trainees, through the prologue trailer.
Her official profile was released on July 18. In the finale, it was revealed that Yaning was unfortunately eliminated, with her rank being C02.
