On June 10, 2020, Yelin was revealed as the first trainee of the pre-debut girl group ALPHA RAY. However, they are presumed to have quietly disbanded sometime in early 2021. On February 25, 2021, a photo posted on SG Entertainment's SNS revealed Yelin as part of a new trainee group called SG Girls.
On May 21, SG Entertainment announced that Yelin has left the group. On October 28, 2022, she made her solo debut under the new stage name Iris with the digital single "Tender Love".
