Kim Youhee and Kim Sohyun trained together for two years in preparation to debut as Buddy. They have been friends for 7 years prior to their debut. On August 23, 2002, Buddy made their debut with the mini album 1st Album Buddy with the title track "반쪽" and follow up song "기억".
The duo had characters to represent them called "Lacodamo (라코다모)" to promote their debut album. On July 13, it was announced that Buddy would be releasing their studio album 2nd Album is... Comfortable and updating their website on July 19.
For this release, the duo collaborated with Red Cross Youth. On May 29, 2004, it was announced that Buddy would be having a joint concert with the Thai dance team Tragon Five in July which would be the duo's first overseas stage. It would also mark the beginning of their overseas promotions as they would proceed to Mongolia and China after their Thai promotions.
After the promotions for their studio album ended, Buddy never released any more music. The duo presumably disbanded in 2005 when their website was shutdown. Following the disbandment of Buddy, the members went their separate ways: - Kim Youhee currently works as a model signed under mrsmodel.
She is also married with three children, one daughter and two sons. The circumstances of Kim Sohyun is currently unknown.
