On October 28, 2016, she was revealed as the second member of LOONA. Her solo single album, titled "HyunJin", was released on November 17. She debuted as a member of the group's first sub-unit, LOONA 1/3, on March 7, 2017 with the mini album Love & Live.

In October, HyunJin, alongside fellow members HeeJin and HaSeul, became contestants on the survival show MIXNINE, representing their agency and group. She was eliminated in the finale after ranking 11th place. On August 20, 2018, LOONA debuted as a full twelve-member group with their first mini album + +.

On February 3, 2023, it was reported that HyunJin, alongside ViVi, would be filling a lawsuit to suspend their contracts with BlockBerryCreative after the court gave divided rulings on similar cases involving the rest of the girl group members. On May 9, 2023, it was reported that HyunJin, alongside ViVi, had won their lawsuits against BlockBerryCreative, thus automatically nullifying their exclusive contracts. On June 11, 2023, it was reported that she, alongside ViVi, had signed exclusive contracts with the new agency CTDENM.

On August 2, 2023, she was revealed as a member of the girl group Loossemble. They debuted on September 15, 2023 with the mini album Loossemble. On November 29, 2024, CTDENM announced that its exclusive contract with the Loossemble members had ended.

On December 4, it was announced that HyunJin would be releasing her first digital single "Thank You" on December 16. On June 5, 2025, it was announced that HyunJin would be holding her first solo fan meeting on June 20. The same day, she also announced via the chat app fromm that she will be managing her own activities from now on by starting her own agency.

It was later revealed to be called Triangle ENM. On June 8, she revealed her goal for the year is to release more solo work. On June 11, HyunJin revealed she is preparing for a band project.

She was also spotted with former cignature member Jee won practicing that day. Later through an interview on June 19, she stated that she would be working on the band project while also preparing for her solo album. On July 16, it was announced that HyunJin is a part of the Studio USOG's program Another Day of Debut Training in collaboration with South Korea's Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs which would form a project girl group for a musical festival in honor of South Korea's 80th Liberation Day in August.

The group's name was later revealed to be TDYA. The group made their debut on August 14, 2025 with the digital single "Keep The Light". The group disbanded effectively after fulfilling its purpose.

On October 1, she was announced as a member of the band LATENCY. The band made their debut on January 8, 2026 with the digital single "It Was Love".
