On December 29, 2022, he was introduced as a contestant of Mnet's survival show Boys Planet, representing as an individual trainee. On April 13, he was eliminated in episode 11 after ranking 23rd place. On December 19, 2024, he was revealed as the second member of the upcoming boy group XLOV under the stage name Rui.

They made their debut on January 7, 2025 with the digital single "I'mma Be".
