After stepping down from his position as CEO of SM Entertainment in May 2006, Kim Kyung-wook founded XING Entertainment and began recruiting trainees for his then-upcoming boy group XING. On December 14, 2006, XING made their debut with their first single album "In Your Hands". The lineup consisted of Kevin, Yume, Marumir and Chun Hye Sung.
On July 13, 2007, Marumir announced his departure from the group. With this, the agency recruited two new members for their second generation lineup, Poppin' Dragon and Zen. On August 9, XING made their comeback with their second single album "My Girl".
Chun Hye Sung later left the group on December 6, citing "creative differences" and "conflicts with the agency" during his appearance on The Voice of Korea in 2012. He was then replaced by Husky. In January 2008, the group faced another lineup change with the departure of Yume on the 12th and Poppin' Dragon on the 13th.
They, along with Chun Hye Sung, later filed a lawsuit against XING Entertainment for their "slave contracts". With this, the agency brought in Gun, White, Yoon and Kipalang, making them a seven-member group for the third generation. On March 14, the group released the repackage of their second single album "My Girl", with songs re-recorded by the new lineup.
This was followed by the release of "T Express" on the 17th of the same month`, in promotion for Everland Resort's rollercoaster. On April 3, Kevin left the group and filed a lawsuit against XING Entertainment regarding his contract. With this, Rising and Soul were recruited and XING was announced to be a rotatory group with sub-units for the fourth generation.
In December, the group reverted to their original name and released a teaser video for "Tears", a re-recorded version of their 2006 song "눈물에 추억에". The video featured an entirely new lineup for the fifth generation, consisting of: Hyun Jin, Jin Wan, Wan Chul, Du Hwan and Dong Geun. However, this lineup ended up not making their debut and XING presumably disbanded in 2010.
Following the disbandment of XING, the members went their separate ways: - Kevin and Marumir re-debuted as members of U-KISS on September 3, 2008 with the mini album New Generation. - Kevin later won his lawsuit against XING Entertainment on March 21, 2010. - Yume became active as an actor in 2014, under his real name Kim Young Kyung.
- Yoon debuted as a soloist on January 24, 2014 with the digital single "Flower Girl", under the stage name XXXY. He later changed his stage name to Z-SANG.
