He was scouted by Seungri, a former member of the boy band BIGBANG, who was impressed by his dancing and decided to bring him to YG Entertainment. Following the scouting, he became a trainee at YG Entertainment in 2010. He was a backup dancer at the 2011 YG Family Concert, alongside former group member Taehyun.
