He made his debut as a member of VIXX with their first single "Super Hero". He made his solo debut on December 18, 2019 with the mini album Winter Butterfly. On June 1, Hyuk announced his departure from Jellyfish Entertainment through a handwritten letter after 10 years with the agency.

Later, on June 8, Jellyfish Entertainment announced that he left the agency after deciding not to renew his contract, though he will still remain as a member of VIXX. On May 22, the newly established agency Companion Company announced that Hyuk has signed with them and would continue to actively promote in diverse fields.
