In 2020, Rainbow Company (later known as Rainbow E&M) created Future Idol, a brand for the purpose of debuting various project idol groups throughout 2021 through its project, known as 'Future Idol Asia'. While pre-debut, Villain was one of several teen groups that participated in the second Future Idol showcase. On September 2, 2022, the group debuted with their first digital single album "Dance With Me".
