On April 15, SIGMA posted a prologue teaser for SIGMA PROJECT to their YouTube. SIGMA PROJECT was a show detailing the formation of a Korean-Japanese boy group. On April 22, SIGMA opened up social media accounts for SIGMA and began SIGMA PROJECT with Z-uK.
On May 17, SIGMA PROJECT revealed that the members will be determined by 30% from the fan vote and 70% from the current members. The members were reveal on a livestream. The SIGMA PROJECT ended on June 24 with the tenth episode.
On August 1, SIGMA revealed that activities were underway and crowdfunding for the MV started. The logo was also revealed at this point. Around October 2020, is when Ten left the group.
On December 10, it was announced that SIGMA would debut simultaneously in Japan and Korea on January 26, 2021 with their first single "Higher". On February 25, 2022, KZ Entertainment announced the departure of the two Japanese members Shun and R. Y.
U. The group will continue to promote as a duo in South Korea.
