U choreographs for ONF and participated in making the choreography for "Why," the title track off of their fourth mini-album Go Live. He also worked with fellow member J-Us to create the choreography for "Twinkle," another song from their Go Live mini album. Along with the other six members of ONF, U was a contestant on the 2017 JTBC reality show MIXNINE.

He was eliminated in episode 13 and finished 23rd overall. In 2018, U competed in the 1theK dance variety competition Dance War. He was eliminated in the second round after receiving the lowest number of votes for his performance of SEVENTEEN's "Clap", but received the highest score of all the contestants from SEVENTEEN's choreography director who served as a judge on the web series.
