On September 21, 2012, Offroad made their debut with the digital single "Bebop" and the lineup consisting of G. I, Seunghun, Sihwan, Kino and Rio. The same day, they had their debut stage on Music Bank.
Ahead of their comeback, they filmed a reality show titled Offroad Expedition in the Western Australian outback, which premiered its first episode on SBS MTV on March 14. The same month, the group made their first comeback on the 25th with the digital single "Head Banging", which attracted attention for being composed, written and produced by Zico. On October 28, it was announced that G.
I and Seunghun had withdrawn from the group due to personal reasons. GI started promoting as a soloist under another agency while Seunghun shifted focus on his studies. In April 2014, a new member named Kangsan appeared to have joined the group ahead of their appearance at Dream Concert 2014.
On May 5, the group's first sub-unit OHNOBRO, consisting of Kino and Rio, had their first release with "Wanna Bom". On July 23, Daewon was officially introduced as a new member of the group. On September 21, it was reported that Kangsan had left the group.
The following month, pre-debut PUREBOY member Siyu appeared to be joining Offroad, under the stage name Habin, as he changed his username on Twitter to include the group's name. On October 7, 2015, the group released their first Japanese single album "Head Banging". In promotion for the release, they held a 42-date Japan tour titled Offroad☆Tokyo Head Banging from October 7 to November 23.
In April 2017, Addcorn and Arkay appeared as contestants on Mnet's survival show Produce 101 Season 2. They were later eliminated on episode 8, at 52th and 36th place, respectively. On August 3, the group's first sub-unit made their official debut with the digital single "Flex", under the name AA.
On April 20, 2018, the group's second sub-unit BNF, consisting of Daewon, Habin and Harang, made their debut with the single album "꽃잎이 되어". On July 10, SHow Entertainment announced that the group had disbanded, with Arkay and Addcorn leaving the agency while Daewon, Habin and Harang continuing as BNF.
