On August 20, 2015, all nine original members of PUREBOY, Sangyun, Hayoung, Sangmin, Nankang, Jiho, Youngbin, Jinseong, Hyobin and Jaewon, allegedly cut off contact with their former agency IT Entertainment and disappeared while they were still doing promotions for their latest release. On October 25, it was revealed that they had formed a new group named NAUGHTY BOYS. On January 28, 2016, IT Entertainment filed a lawsuit for damages and an injunction to ban activities against NAUGHTY BOYS.
The following month, Hayoung and Sangyun left NTB and returned to PUREBOY. On August 3, the group made their debut in Japan with the single "DanCin'derella/Step By Step". The single achieved moderate success, ranking 9th and 4th on Oricon's weekly chart and daily chart, respectively.
On September 3, it was reported that three members of NAUGHTY BOYS, only referred to as Hwang, Jeon and Yang, had been sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on charges of assaulting fellow PUREBOY member Seokyu on several occasions. Additionally, their manager K was under investigation by his former agency for obstruction of business, while manager Y was under investigation for threats and extortion against members Hayoung and Sangyun. On September 20, it was reported that Hwang, Jeon and Yang had been fined on charges of assaulting member Seokyu.
On October 19, it was announced that J-One had left the group due to creative differences. On February 8, 2017, NAUGHTY BOYS returned as a six-member group and released their second Japanese single, "L. O.
V. E. ".
On December 14, the group officially started using NTB as their official group's name. On February 26, 2018, they launched a crowdfunding project on MAKESTAR for their Korean debut album. The project ended on April 30, raising $65.
241,75 and surpassing their original funding goal of $4. 659. On May 28, they made their debut in Korea with the release of their first mini album Dramatic.
On October 31, 2019, Youngbo departed from the group as his contract with High Choice Entertainment ended. In November 2019, it was announced that G. O would be enlisting in the military for his mandatory military service.
On February 28, 2021, High Choice Entertainment announced that NTB would be disbanding after their last online fan meeting on March 27. On March 1, the members posted their goodbye letters to the group's official SNS. On September 24, 2024, the group announced their reformation as a trio, consisting of G.
O, L. Min and Sungwoong, for their concert Join Us in Japan. After their tour ended on February 16, 2025, "Dopamine" was released to the group's Instagram account the following day.
