On October 30, 2023, Cube announced that they are planning to launch a new boy group consisting of five members in early 2024. JTBC reported that the group would be debuting in the first quarter of 2024 and would go by the name NOWADAYS. On November 9, SPOTV News reported that former Produce X 101 contestant Kim Hyeon Bin will be debuting in the group.
On March 4, 2024, the group unveiled their first-ever teaser and opened their SNS accounts. NOWADAYS started promoting through QR posters seen throughout Seoul, showcasing five group members whose identities are hidden. The members were first shown through teaser videos released the following days.
On March 7, all five members were officially introduced. On March 11, 2024, it was announced that NOWADAYS would be debuting on April 2. On March 13, it was revealed that the group will be debuting with the single album "Nowadays".
On July 11, it was announced that NOWADAYS will be releasing the digital single "Rainy Day (2024 Remake Ver. )" on July 16. It is a remake of the 2011 song by BEAST.
On August 12, the group announced their second single album "Nowhere", set to be released on August 27. On November 6, it was announced that NOWADAYS will be releasing the second digital single "Let's Get It" on November 21. On June 2, 2025, NOWADAYS rebranded all their SNS accounts to NOWZ and posted a teaser announcing their new name.
On June 7, the group announced their first mini album Ignition, with the pre-release digital single, "Fly to the Youth" set to be released on June 17. On June 18, it was announced that the mini album will be released on July 9. On June 22, the group announced that they will release the Chinese version of "Fly to the Youth", the following day.
On November 1, 1theK revealed that NOWZ will be coming back in November. On November 10, NOWZ announced that they will make their comeback with their third single album "Play Ball" on November 26. On January 28, 2026, NOWZ announced that they will make their Japanese debut with self-titled EP, on March 4.
"AMMO (feat. YRD Leo)" was pre-released on February 24.
