On September 27, 2012, Ryu was announced as a member of the upcoming boy group MR. MR, set to debut the following month under TH E&M. The group officially debuted on October 4 with the digital single "Who's That Girl".
On March 4, 2015 a notice was posted stating Ryu would leave the group due to differences in musical direction with the agency. Shortly afterward, however, Ryu revealed on Twitter that he had been physically assaulted and verbally abused by the agency's representative. The agency later acknowledged the incident, apologized, and stated the matter would be addressed through legal means.
On March 13, 2017, Gi Taek debuted as a member of the group MVP with the release of their mini album Manifest. Unfortunately, on February 16, 2022, fellow member Rayoon posted an Instagram post with the caption revealing that the group had disbanded.
