On November 2, 2020, SBS announced that they would be launching a new boy group audition show in collaboration with JYP Entertainment's J. Y. Park and P Nation's PSY to create two global boy groups.
Applications were open from November 2, 2020 to January 31, 2021 for males born in or after the year 2000. The show, LOUD, began airing on June 5, and ended on September 11, 2021, with Yoon Min, Lee Gye Hun, Amaru, Keiju and Lee Dong Hyeon being selected as members of the future boy group of JYP Entertainment. On April 11, 2023, Yoon Min opened up an Instagram account, thus confirming his departure from JYP Entertainment and the group.
According to JYP Entertainment's investors relations report, the group is scheduled to debut in the second half of 2024. On November 22, 2024, a teaser image was released announcing that the group, named KickFlip, would make their debut announcement on January 1, 2025. However, on December 30, it was announced that all of their activities would be postponed to January 6 due to the recent crash accident.
On January 5, KickFlip announced their debut mini album, Flip It, Kick It! , scheduled for January 20. All seven members were revealed later that day, with new faces Donghwa, Juwang, and Minje being introduced.
On April 18, it was reported that KickFlip would come back with a new album at the end of May. On May 2, KickFlip announced that they will be releasing their second mini album Kick Out, Flip Now! on May 26.
On July 25, it was reported that KickFlip would come back with a new album at the end of September. On September 1, KickFlip announced their third mini album, My First Flip, set for release on September 22. On January 20, 2026, it was announced that KickFlip will be releasing the digital single "From KickFlip, To WeFlip" later that day to celebrate the group's first anniversary.
On February 13, it was reported that KickFlip would come back in the second week of March. On February 28, it was announced that the group will release their fourth mini album on April 6 and a pre-release single on March 9. Member Amaru won't be participating in the album and promotions.
On March 4, KBS approved new song "Twenty", which might be the pre-release single. On March 6, they announced the title of their fourth mini album My First Kick along with the MV teaser for "Twenty".
