About
In 2015, he was admitted into as a voice major where he would meet Park Ki Hun (future LA POEM member). They competed in the in France together with fellow Phantom Singer participant and Letteamor member Gil Byeong Min in 2016. It was his first overseas vocal competition and he reached the semi-finals.
Ko, then a third-year student, decided to audition for Phantom Singer 2 after watching the first season, which several university seniors he was acquainted with had contested in. Having just returned from Toulouse, he felt that the repertoire he had as a classically trained singer was too limited and wanted to challenge himself, hence the decision to audition. He auditioned together with two other SNU schoolmates and was the youngest contestant in season 2.
He passed the open auditions and the next round of individual auditions but was initially eliminated in the "1 versus 1" stage as he lost to EXP EDITION member Sime Kosta. The judges decided to grant him an extra pass, thus saving him from elimination. Cho Min Gyu then drafted him to become his duet partner for the upcoming "duet versus duet" stage.
Forestella was officially formed prior to the show's final stage. The quartet performed four songs in the final stage and won the competition. The group officially debuted on March 14, 2018 with their first studio album, Evolution.
In 2018, he made his Seoul Arts Center debut, playing Don Pedro/Il Commendatore in the opera Don Giovanni. On December 20, 2021, Ko signed an exclusive contract with Beat Interactive to handle his solo activities.
