In 2019, Joo Chang Uk participated in Mnet's reality show Produce X 101. In the 11th episode, he ranked 29 and was unfortunately eliminated. On August 14, it was announced that the W PROJECT would return with the their fourth installation.
On August 27, he was introduced as a member of the project. They then released the collaboration single "1M1S" on September 2. On September 4, 2020, it was announced that Woollim Entertainment would be debuting a new boy group.
Later that day, it was revealed that Joo Chang Uk would be one of the seven members debuting in the boy group named DRIPPIN. The group officially debuted on October 28, 2020 with the mini album Boyager.
