All five members of B. I. G were trainees before becoming members of the group and have an average of three years training between them.
Three of the group's members: Gunmin, Minpyo and Heedo, trained at the Plug In Music Academy. Benji had previously been a student at Cleveland Institute of Music and Heifetz International Music Institute, and later attended Juilliard School, before dropping out in 2011 to pursue a music career in South Korea. Before debuting the members practiced together as a group for one and a half years.
B. I. G debuted with their first digital single, "Hello" on July 9, 2014 performing their debut stage on SBS MTV's The Show.
On October 16, they confirmed that they would made their comeback with their second digital single "Are You Ready? ", and later on October 22, they made their comeback stage on MBC Music's Show Champion. On December 12, they released their rendition of Wham!
's "Last Christmas" to thank their fans and celebrate their first Christmas as a group. On March 3, 2015, they announced their third digital single, "Between Night n Music", accompanied by a selection of individual and group teasers images, and later on March 6, the new digital single and accompanying music video were released. On November 4, they announced that they would be joining the long list of November comebacks, and later their fourth digital single, "Big Transformer", including the title track "Taola" was released on November 19.
GH Entertainment confirmed in late January that B. I. G were preparing for their upcoming Japanese debut, with management from HY Entertainment.
The group began promoting in Japan by holding showcases in Tokyo before their debut to help them become known. They officially debuted on March 23, 2016 with the Japanese version of "Taola", which peaked at number 15 on the Oricon weekly singles chart. On May 10, they announced that their first mini-album, Aphrodite, would be released later that month whereas the mini-album and accompanying music video for title track of the same name, were released on May 17.
On June 17 and 18, they held their first Japanese concert, B. I. G Japan First Live, at Harajuku's Astro Hall in Tokyo.
On February 1, 2017, it was revealed that B. I. G was preparing for a single to be released on February 13.
On the same day, GH Entertainment announced that Minpyo would be going on a temporary hiatus due to health issues and would be unable to participate in the comeback. On February 13, the group officially made their comeback with the single "B. I.
G Rebirth" and the song title "1. 2. 3".
On April 20, they teased their Asia tour titled The B. I. Ginning, which would begin in Seoul.
On May 23, B. I. G came back as a five-member group with the first single album "Hello Hello".
On September 8, the line up for the 2017 Dream Concert In Pyeongchang was revealed with B. I. G being one of the artists performing.
They later performed at the concert on November 4. On February 26, Gunmin and Heedo thanked VIXX's Ravi for helping them record a song for their sub-unit. They then made their debut in the first sub-unit Gunmin X Heedo on April 26 with the single "Don't Worry".
At a fan sign in January 2019, it was announced that Jinseok would be joining the group as a new member. On November 4, they released their second single album "Illusion". The single marked Jinseok's official debut.
On October 1, 2020, Benji revealed on his personal SNS that he would be leaving the group. He mentioned that he did not renewed his contract with the company as he wanted to pursue his solo activities. On November 14, 2021, B.
I. G released a teaser for their upcoming comeback "Mr. Big : Flashback", set to be released on November 23.
On March 21, 2022, they revealed their B. I. G Premium Live in Tokyo 2022 that would be doing several concerts in Tokyo.
