In 2017, he became a contestant on JTBC's reality survival show MIXNINE. He was eliminated in episode 7 after ranking 113th place. On October 24, Mingi debuted as a member of KQ Entertainment's first boy group, ATEEZ, with the release of the mini album Treasure EP.
1 : All To Zero. Mingi announced on November 15, 2020 that he would be going on hiatus from the group due to psychological anxiety problems. On February 5, 2021, KQ Entertainment announced that although he is in hiatus, he still took part in the recording of their sixth mini album Zero : Fever Part.
2. On May 27, it was also revealed that he took part in the recording of the ATEEZ song for Kingdom, "The Real". On July 18, 2021, it had been announced that Mingi fully regained his health after 8 months of recovery and he would be returning from hiatus.
On February 4, Mingi launched a project called "Desire Project" in which he shows songs of his own composition. On August 9, Mingi released his first solo LP Fix On/Off.
