On September 22, 2023, it was announced that MEGAMETA would be producing a four-member actor-idol group ASTEON with the concept of combining stories with the metaverse (which would be called the "storyverse"). It aims to demonstrate the potential of the members as actors through storytelling in a virtual space while incorporating the identity of ASTEON. The same day, it was also revealed that the group would pre-release music and a trailer music drama ahead of their own web drama which would serve as their debut.
On September 25, the poster for their music web drama "매니저과 1등에게 구원받았다" was revealed and set to air sometime in December, alongside an original soundtrack, "Promise", which would be released within the next month. On September 27, individual member photos were released introducing the names of the four members as Park Joon Hyuk, Jang Yun Seong, Yang Jun Beom and Moon Seong Hyeok. During the International Music Expo in Shanghai, the music video for their original soundtrack "Promise" was shown during the online showcase broadcasted live on November 4 and uploaded to iqiyi.
On March 28, prologue films are released for only three members: Jang Yun Seong, Yang Jun Beom and Kwak Gun who is revealed as a new member. On September 30, Kwak Gun is announced as a participant of Starlight Boys. On April 1, 2025, an official trailer for the group was released, revealing a new four-member lineup with Ahn Jun Won, Nam Min Su, Yoon Do Jin, and Yang Jun Beom.
However, the group released new set of member profile photos in September for only three members. Yoon Do Jin did not get an updated member profile and the group deleted previous content that included him from their SNS accounts, implying he has departed from the group. On December 5, it was announced that ASTEON's first web drama, Will You Be My Manager?
, will be released through WAVVE and Rakuten Viki on December 12 and will features all four members. On January 9, 2026, Jung Sun Woo was revealed as a member.
