On December 22, 2020, the group released concept teaser images for their cover of Girls' Generation-TTS's song "Dear Santa". The special clip for the song was released the following day. On March 24, 2021, it was announced through their Twitter account that Aeri left the group to pursue a different career.
On July 25, 2021, it was announced that the group would release their Japanese pre-debut single "Paradise Dream" on August 1. On September 7, 2021, member Shiruku was revealed to have went on a hiatus due to physical and mental health issues, and hence all upcoming group activities would be postponed until she makes a full recovery. Open auditions were to be held virtually for the final two members between December 1, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
The debut preparation was planned for summer 2022 in Seoul, South Korea, with promotional activities planned for South Korea, Japan, and USA. On October 3, 2021, the group announced via a statement on Twitter, that both Shiruku and Yoomei have departed the group to pursue different career paths, thus disbanding ZIOLETTA.
