On April 24, 2020, A100 Entertainment On May 13, A100 Entertainment released a profile photo of the unit and revealed their name as XUM. On August 11, A100 Entertainment confirmed the disbanded of NeonPunch due to difficulties into maintaining the group with reasons such as the COVID-19 pandemic. With Dohee and May's future plans currently unknown, Dayeon, Baek Ah, and Iaan would re-debut as a new girl group in August under the unit's name, XUM.
On August 12, 2020, it was announced that XUM would make its official debut on August 25 with the single album "Ddalala". On August 20, the group announced their debut has been delayed after one of their staff members contacted someone who had COVID-19 and that the staff and members had shared in the same space together. Testing was done and the following day announced the tests came back negative.
The members have stopped all activities and would be in self-quarantine for 2 weeks. Their debut was re-scheduled for September 24.
