On October 31, 2017, Aftermoon Entertainment launched a crowdfunding project on Makestar to gather funds to debut their first girl group by the name of We Girls, consisting of nine members: Jaina, Hyeni, Yehana, Woori, Vivian, Julie, HaL Park, Lina and Suha. Notably, fans can vote for their album's concept and the group's center/leader by participating in this. The project concluded on January 24, 2018, raising 27,773 US$.
By the end of their Makestar project, the group appeared to have underwent major lineup changes, with Jaina, Woori, and Julie departing and E. You joining as a new member. Soon after, Vivian, Lina and Suha also left, which led to the brief addition of Cindy.
In April, the group became a six-member act after Han Jung A and Ellie were added to the lineup. Ultimately, their debut lineup finalized with the departure of Cindy and the addition of two new members, Nina and EunA, in July. On August 31, 2018, We Girls finally made their long-awaited debut as eight with the single album "On Air".
On October 9, the group released a remix of their debut single, titled "Girls Wings Fly", as a special gift for their fans. This also confirmed that the group's fandom name is Wings. On February 7, 2019, HaL announced via her personal Facebook account that she had departed from the group and returned to preparing for an acting debut.
On June 17, We Girls posted a group photo without Hyeni and revealed their plans to make a comeback soon with the 2nd generation lineup. In the post's comment section, Aftermoon Entertainment confirmed that Hyeni had left the group, though the reason for her departure was never given. On June 21, Aftermoon Entertainment launched another Makestar project to fund their second album, tentatively titled Dreams Become Reality.
The project reached its deadline on August 29 with 9,987 US$ raised. On September 6, the group made their first comeback with the mini album Ride. The same day, they held a showcase in the form of a fan meeting at the Shinhan Card Fan Square Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul to celebrate their first anniversary.
Additionally, a music video for the b-side "Heart Beat" was later released on October 28. On December 3, We Girls released a special Christmas single titled "Hello, Christmas". Shortly after this, it was announced on the 11th that EunA had decided to leave the group.
On July 13, 2020, Aftermoon Entertainment made a post announcing that they were holding auditions to find new members for We Girls. Additionally, it was revealed that Nina and Ellie had decided to leave after their contracts with the agency expired. On September 14, E. You announced through her Instagram that she had terminated her contract with Aftermoon Entertainment and left the group. The same day, the agency officially confirmed E.
You's departure, revealing that she had requested an early termination of her contract several months ago due to exhaustion from their promotions. Shortly after her departure, they revealed that six new members, who were only known by their initials 'D', 'A', 'Y', 'S', 'R', and lastly 'K', had been recruited. On April 9, 2021, it was reported that Byeoljji, Kimi, and Do Hayoon had officially been added to the group for their third generation lineup.
In February 2022, after three years of inactivity, YeHana revealed in an Instagram DM that We Girls had disbanded. Following We Girls' disbandment, the members went their separate ways: - Former member Ellie returned to being active as a soloist. - Former members Nina and EunA joined Bambino with their reformation in 2022.
