She debuted as a member of T-ARA on July 29, 2009 with the group's first single "Lie". On May 2, 2013, she debuted as a member of the group's sub-unit T-ARA N4 with the mini album Jeon Won Diary. Jiyeon made her solo debut on May 20, 2014 with her first mini album Never Ever.
On January 3, 2018, it was announced all of the remaining members of T-ARA had left MBK Entertainment. However, the group would not be disbanding. On May 16, it was announced Jiyeon signed on with Longzhen Culture for her future Chinese promotions.
On November 22, Partners Park announced Jiyeon had signed on with the agency for her domestic activities. On July 12, 2021, Partners Park confirmed to OSEN that Jiyeon's contract recently expired and she had decided not to renew. On February 18, 2022, Jiyeon signed an exclusive contract with AnB Group.
