In 2020, Rainbow Company (later known as Rainbow E&M) created Future Idol, an idol development project for the purpose of debuting various project idol groups throughout 2021, 2022 and 2023 through its project, known as 'Future Idol Asia'. On May 19, 2023, Future Idol revealed Redplum as one of their first idol groups formed in early 2023 which were not previously part of their first or second Future Idol showcase. The same day, Redplum released a teaser video revealing their debut date to be on May 26, 2023, with the single "Come With Me".
