In early 2016, she participated in Mnet's survival television show, Produce 101 as a trainee representing Star Empire Entertainment. She was eliminated in Episode 11 with her final rank being 12th place. A few months later, Star Empire announced that she was set to debut in the group OMZM.
In August 2016, she debuted as a member of the project girl group I. B. I.
In July 2017, Hye Ri announced her departure from OMZM and company. After that, she participated in the survival show MIXNINE, but didn't pass the auditions. On April 11, 2022, Hye Ri made her solo debut with the digital single "Spring Day".
