On April 15, 2016, announced plans for a Korean live-action drama adaptation of , carried out by Interactive Media Mix. The same month, they opened an audition for the drama on the 25th, accepting candidates from all around the world, as well as a public voting on the 29th. On May 14, the first public voting concluded with 20 candidates advancing to the next audition.
Among these candidates, 19 girls were selected for training and divided into two teams: A Team (Mint, Yukika, Yejin, Jihee, Hyunmi, Sori, Yoohyeon, Joungjoo, Yeseul, Youngjoo) and B Team (Coco, Suji, Jeewon, Nayoung, Haseo, Mayu, Yeeun, Jane). On June 7, the top 14 candidates (Youngjoo, Suji, Jane, Yukika, Mint, Coco, Joungjoo, Sori, Haseo, Jeewon, Hyunmi, Yeseul, Yeeun and Nayoung) were selected for the final training camp. The same month on the 15th, Taeri and Hana Byul were added to the list of candidates.
On August 25, 2016, the group announced their finalized ten-member lineup, consisting of Youngjoo, Suji, Jane, Yukika, Mint, Sori, Haseo, Jeewon, Yeeun and Hana Byul, and made their debut with the digital single "Dream". On October 13, Hana Byul officially left the group due to a leg injury and was replaced by Jiseul. On March 31, 2017, the group's sub-unit B-Side, consisting of Sori, Yukika, Jeewon, Yeeun and Jiseul, made their debut with "THE IDOLM@STER".
On April 11, the group held their first solo concert in Japan. On the 28th of the same month, their drama series ' started airing on SBS Plus. On August 4, the group returned with "Ping Pong Game".
Only five members participated in this comeback: Yeeun, Sori, Yukika, Jeewon and Suji. On October 6, the final episode of THE IDOLM@STER. KR aired and the group announced plans for two fanmeeting events in Japan (November 3, 2017) and Korea (November 11, 2017).
In October, Youngjoo, Jeeun, Yukika, Sori participated in MIXNINE, while Haseo, Mint and Suji participated in The Unit. Sori made it to the final top 9 of MIXNINE but couldn't debut because the male team won, while Suji made it to top 9 of The Unit and debuted as a member of UNI. T.
In 2018, the group practically disbanded as the members returned to promoting individually. However, the members continued to post on the group's SNS up until December 2019. Following the group's disbandment, the members went their separate ways.
- Youngjoo, along with her sister Joungjoo, debuted as the duo Dewsisters with "The Beginning of a Journey" on June 8, 2018. - Sori made her solo debut with "Touch" on September 4, 2018. - Mint opened her own agency, Mflow Entertainment, in 2019 and started working as the agency's CEO.
- Yukika made her solo debut with "Neon" on February 22, 2019. On December 1, 2023, she announced her retirement from the entertainment industry. She got married in 2022 and gave birth to her daughter in 2024.
- Suji promoted as a member of UNI. T until their disbandment in October 2018 then became active as an actress in 2020. She got married in 2023.
- Jane made her solo debut on April 18, 2022 with the digital single "Trying to do What I can do", under the stage name jANE. - Haseo was active as an actress for a short time in 2019. She also opened a YouTube channel where she uploaded various song covers, which were made private after 2022.
It appears she has since left the entertainment industry. - Yeeun became active as a model and influencer. - Jiseul changed her name to Cha Mingyul and became active as a model and equestrian.
- Jiwon appears to have left the entertainment industry after the group's disbandment.
