On October 24, 2018, Majesty Entertainment began teasing their then-upcoming girl group PURPLEBECK. On November 11, Yeowool was revealed as the first member of the group. This was followed by the reveal of Yerim on December 9 and Mini on December 14.
On December 29, the SNS for PURPLEBECK were opened. Two days later, La Yeon was revealed as their fourth member. On January 8, they revealed their fifth member Seyeon.
This was followed by the reveal of their sixth member Usoul through a livestream on the 12th. Shortly after this, it was confirmed that Usoul had left the group on March 3. Following the opening of their SNS, the group started gained attention among Kpop fans for the members and their managers' frequent interaction with fans on Twitter.
In addition, they also started following Kpop fans and participating in group chats on their Twitter account. However, this led to the speculations that they were a fake group under a fake agency. The suspicion solidified as fans thought their website looked poorly made and found out their agency was located at a 7-Eleven store.
On April 24, Majesty Entertainment released a statement debunking the rumors. The agency clarified that their office was located in a larger building, with a convenience store using the main floor. They acknowledged that their website was still under construction due to limited resources but assured that it would be completed in due time.
They also confirmed that Usoul left the group due to personal reasons and asked fans to respect her privacy. Additionally, the agency stated that they planned to take legal actions against their former artist, referred to as Singer A, for spreading false rumors after losing a lawsuit against the agency. On June 24, 2019, PURPLEBECK officially made their debut with their first single album "Crystal Ball".
The following day, they had their first music show stage with a performance on The Show. On September 30, the group returned with their second single album "Dream Line". On March 21, 2020, they released their first mini album Starry Night, with "VALENTi" serving as the title track.
On July 30, 2021, it was revealed that La Yeon had went on a hiatus due to personal reasons. In a DM with a fan, their CEO revealed that La Yeon had allegedly breached her contract with the agency for a long time and later left the group without saying a word. In November, their CEO seemingly teased a PURPLEBECK comeback on Instagram.
However, this was later confirmed to be for a cover. On April 15, 2022, their collaboration digital single "Can't Believe" with Portuguese composer Rudrygo Sousa was released. In October 2023, Yeowool revealed to a fan that the members hadn't been able to contact their CEO and didn't know what was going on.
With this and the group's inactivity, it was assumed that they had disbanded.
