On June 26, 2020, the final episode of Nizi Project was broadcasted, revealing the final nine members to debut the show's produced-group, NiziU; Mako ranked first overall, followed by Riku ranking second, Rima ranked third, Rio ranked fourth, Maya ranked fifth, Miihi ranked sixth, Mayuka ranked seventh, Ayaka ranked eighth and finally, Nina ranked ninth overall and was the last contestant revealed to debut. On the same day, it was announced that their pre-debut mini album, Make You Happy, would be released on June 30. On October 2, it was announced that the group would officially debut with their first major Japanese single, "Step and a Step" on December 2.
On February 1, 2021, it was announced that NiziU would make their first-ever comeback with their second Japanese single "Take a picture / Poppin' Shakin'" on April 7. Meanwhile, "Poppin' Shakin'" would be digitally pre-released on February 20. On July 2, it was announced that NiziU would be releasing their first Japanese digital single, "Super Summer", on July 5.
On September 7, the group announced that they would be releasing their first full-length album, U, on November 24. The album consists of songs from their pre-debut released mini album Make You Happy, as well as previously released singles "Step and a Step", "Take a picture / Poppin' Shakin'" and "Super Summer" in addition to 6 new songs, with "Chopstick" serving as the album's title track. On April 2, 2022, NiziU announced their second Japanese digital single, "Asobo", which would be released on April 12.
On April 25, NiziU announced that they would release their first English digital single, "Asobo (English Ver. )", the next day. On May 8, the group announced that their third Japanese single, "Clap Clap", would be released on July 20.
The details for the single's release were announced on May 13. On May 20, 2022, NiziU announced their first tour in Japan. On July 18, it was announced that the first shows in Hyogo, scheduled for July 23 and 24, would be postponed after 5 members tested positive for COVID-19.
On August 13, the group held their first-ever concert tour, NiziU Live With U 2022 "Light It Up", at West Japan General Exhibition Center New Wing in Fukuoka. On September 4, 2022, the group announced their first dome performances in Tokyo and Osaka. Their first dome tour NiziU Live With U 2022 "Burn It Up", was held on November 12-13 at Tokyo Dome and on December 17-18 at Kyocera Dome Osaka.
On October 5, NiziU announced that they would be releasing fourth Japanese single, "Blue Moon", on December 14. On January 7, 2023, the group announced their fifth Japanese single, "Paradise", which was released on March 8. On May 10, NiziU announced that they would release their second Japanese full-length album Coconut on July 19.
On October 4, it was announced that NiziU would be making their Korean debut with the single album "Press Play" on October 30. On May 24, 2024, NiziU announced that they will be releasing their first EP, Rise Up, on July 24. The digital singles "Rise Up" and "Rise Up (English & Korean ver.
)" were pre-released on July 7, 2024. On November 12, 2024, it was announced that NiziU will be releasing their first Japanese mini album Awake, on February 5, 2025. On March 10, NiziU announced their second Korean single album "Love Line", set for release on March 31.
On September 4, NiziU announced that they will release their third Japanese full-length album New Emotion on November 19. On February 2, NiziU announced that they will release their second Japanese EP (third EP overall), Too Bad on February 14. On February 13, NiziU announced that the title for their second Japanese EP had changed to Good Girl But Not For You.
