On September 1, 2017, it was announced that soloists Li-G and Kwon Aejin, who had signed with Daebak Entertainment, would form a vocal duo named The Singing Girls. The duo debuted on September 5 with the digital single "I Like". They held their debut music stage on September 8 on SBS Inkigayo.
Shortly after promotions ended in October, Li-G quietly departed from the group. In December 2017, new articles began promoting the act as a full girl group, unofficially confirming Li-G's departure through the introduction of two new members, Sanha and Sarang, alongside original member Kwon Aejin. The reformed, now girl group, made their first comeback with their second digital single, "Still Like You" on December 14.
On January 19, Kwon Aejin released a solo version of "Still Like You". In March, following the disbandment of the group O My Jewel, of which Sanha and Sarang were members, it was presumed that both had departed from The Singing Girls, as all subsequent promotions featured only Aejin as a solo act before the group entered a hiatus. On August 13, 2018, the group announced a major reorganization and a comeback with a completely new lineup consisting of Sena, Eun Bee, La Hee and Jiyeon.
The announcement revealed plans to release two singles, "Maybe Maybe" and "This Night". Three days later, on August 16, the group officially released their third digital single, "Maybe Maybe. " In October 2018, now-deleted teasers for "This Night" were released, featuring another new lineup.
Four new members, Aya, Rookie, Hyein and Seungji, were introduced, with a fifth member, Sophie, announced as a guest. The single "This Night" was officially released on October 4 under this lineup. Following the conclusion of promotions for "This Night", plans were announced for a sub-unit consisting of Aya and Rookie.
However, by the end of October 2018, these plans were scrapped, and Aya and Rookie continued activities solely as members of The Singing Girls, effectively promoting as a duo. In January 2019, a new lineup was seen following the group’s collaboration with Yuri on the digital single "This Night". The group was reintroduced with members Aya, Rookie, and Hyein, alongside a new member, Hajin.
This change unofficially confirmed the departures of Seungji and guest member Sophie. On March 26, it was announced that the group would make a comeback the following day. The announcement also revealed that the release would be their final song as The Singing Girls, ahead of a planned re-debut under the new name Melody Pink.
On March 27, they released their fifth digital single "Dream of Star". After their final release as The Singing Girls, the group officially began promoting under the name Melody Pink in April 2019. They first performed their then-upcoming single, "Hey U" on Pops in Seoul in April 4.
In the following months, the group continued to perform "Hey U" live ahead of its official release. In July 2019, a MAKESTAR crowdfunding project was launched to support the group's official re-debut as Melody Pink. The project was successfully completed, reaching 106% of its funding goal.
The song was officially released on September 25, marking the group's re-debut as Melody Pink. Afterwards, the group performed at various busking events across South Korea and underwent multiple lineup changes, with members joining and leaving without formal announcements. In early 2020, a New Year's greeting video was released featuring the absence of Aya and the appearance of a new member, Yumin, unofficially confirming Aya’s departure and introducing a new lineup.
In March 2020, the group continued activities as a trio consisting of Rookie, Hyein, and a new member, Haneul, indicating Hajin's departure. During this period, a new track titled "Bad Boy" was promoted, and a full album was announced; however, neither was ultimately released. On October 12, Hyein and Rookie announced through the group's Instagram that they have concluded their contracts due...
