Gaeun, MiU and Suhye originally debuted as LIMELIGHT on February 17, 2023, with the EP Love & Happiness. On January 11, 2024, they released their third EP Last Dance, which would be their last release as a trio as the group planned to reorganize and add more members. On July 15, all SNS accounts belonging to LIMELIGHT were rebranded as MADEIN.
On July 16, it was reported that former Kep1er members Mashiro and Yeseo would be joining MADEIN which would debut in September 2024. On August 14, 2024, it was announced that the group would debut on September 3 with their first EP Rise. Their first-ever Japanese fan concert, titled 'MADEIN "Adventure" 2024', held in October, was announced on August 21.
A Seoul concert would be held later in the month. In an interview, the CEO of 143 Entertainment revealed that the group planned to have three releases within a year. On October 6, MADEIN revealed the name of their official fanclub to be 'MABY', a combination of the group's name and the English word "by", and is pronounced like "maybe".
With fans alongside MADEIN, the members will heal and overcome all the trials and tribulations. On November 22, it was revealed that Gaeun had gone on hiatus due to the sexual assault and maltreatment she had received from the company's CEO. On November 29, 143 Entertainment released a statement announcing that Gaeun had officially left MADEIN due to "personal circumstances" and the group would continue activities with the remaining six members.
On January 24, 2025, MADEIN opened the pre-orders for their digital single "MADEIN Forever", scheduled for February 14. "Saturn" was pre-released on February 7. On May 14, it was announced that Suhye would temporarily halt activities due to personal matters.
On July 7, MADEIN announced that their originally planned schedule for Japanese debut would be pushed back and they would announce new information soon. As no further news for the group's Japanese debut were made by the end of 2025, it is presumed that the release was postponed indefinitely or canceled entirely. On July 19, it was reported that MADEIN would come back in August.
However on July 31, it was reported that MADEIN's first sub-unit MADEIN S would debut in August. MADEIN S, composed of members Mashiro, MiU, Serina and Nagomi, debuted on August 14, 2025 with the digital single "Made in Blue". On December 26, it was reported that MADEIN members Yeseo and Suhye were in final discussions with the company to leave the group.
Hours later, 143 Entertainment released a notice announcing that both members have suspended their activities and that MADEIN would promote as four for the time being. On January 23, 2026, MADEIN announced their first single album "Girl Meets Boy", scheduled for February 9. As of March 2026, 143 Entertainment updated its website with a photo of MADEIN without Yeseo and Suhye, leaving fans wondering about their actual status within the group and agency.
