In May 2018, she became a contestant on the survival show Produce 48, where she represented CNC School. She was eliminated in episode 8 after ranking 51st place. On December 26, Stardium announced that Yujeong, alongside the other four CNC trainees, had joined the agency.
However, she left the agency sometime in late 2019. In December 2019, Yujeong joined Cube Entertainment as a trainee. On April 22, 2021, Yujeong was revealed as the eighth and final member of LIGHTSUM.
The group debuted on June 10 with their first single "Vanilla".
