January has opened Instagram account in May 2022. The first member of January, Ryuhee, was revealed on May 31 followed by member Ari (later known as Haru) on June 1, Soye on June 2, and Taehee on June 3. The group's Instagram roughly became inactive since July 2022, hinting the group had disbanded.

However, the account then became active again in July 2023. On July 6, 2023, the group revealed that they will make their debut on July 20 with the first digital single "Remember", with the addition of two new members, Annie and Hyunyoung. On July 11, 2023, they revealed through their scheduler that their debut is slated to July 28.
