In April 2017, Gaeul was scouted by Starship Entertainment while she was competing in the preliminary round of the Incheon Youth Dance Competition. On November 4, 2021, Gaeul was revealed as the second member of IVE. The group debuted on December 1, 2021 with the single album "Eleven".
