Yeji joined SBS' reality competition television series The Fan, but was ultimately eliminated the third round. On January 20, 2019, she was revealed as a member of ITZY. The group officially debuted on February 12 with the digital single "IT'z Different".
Yeji, along with fellow member Ryujin, was featured on a remix version of Bebe Rexha's single "[https://youtu. be/yMw53FT-ugI? si=5dlm9qQFst4mRmPY Break My Heart Myself]" in 2022.
20 days before the release of their mini-album Born to Be, a shortened version of Yeji's self-written and composed song "[https://youtu. be/OSRMoNKftyk? si=RpflfGdbXGXAyTY9 Crown On My Head]" was released along with a music video.
On January 17, 2025, JYP Entertainment announced that Yeji is preparing for her solo debut, although the exact date has yet to be announced. On February 10, JYP Entertainment teased Yeji's debut mini album Air set to release on March 10, 2025.
