On November 29, 2023, it was announced that Be the max Entertainment would debut a new girl group, with their debut scheduled for the first half of 2024. Initially, they were introduced as Partyence and had five unrevealed members. However, in early February 2024, they changed their group name to I:mond and became a four member group.
On February 7, Be the max Entertainment revealed all four members: E-seol, Miku, A-hyeon, and Youngwon. On May 5, a "hidden camera" comedy video featuring I:mond was published on YouTuber 장기풍 JKP TV's channel. In the comments section, the group announced that they would be making their debut on May 22.
On May 19, 2024, the group's SNS accounts were rebranded from I:mond to I:MOND. The same day, they announced that they would debut with the single album "We Are Gravity" on June 3. However, on June 2, it was announced that the release had been pushed back to June 4 due to issues in the distribution process.
On June 10, I:MOND announced their official fandom name to be "Me:ning". The name is a compound word combining "Me" and "Shining. " It signifies that the group and their fans shine brightly by their mere existence, emphasizing that they are the reason and significance for each other's existence.
On January 5, 2025, the group officially announced that they will be making their comeback with the first mini album Under My. On January 15, a scheduler was posted, revealing the release date to be February 14. On January 22, it was reported that their upcoming comeback was entirely self-produced following their departure from Be the max Entertainment in July 2024.
On January 27, it was announced that the group had established their own agency EMMP Company. On July 7, it was announced that Youngwon has departed from I:MOND after consultation with the agency due to personal reasons and various circumstances within the group.
